Center Grove grabbed 4th place in Class A while Greenwood finished 3rd in today’s ISSMA State High School Marching Band competition at Lucas Oil Stadium. In Class B Goshen grabbed second place and Jasper captured the top spot. Jasper had not won the competition since 1973.
In Class A the top ten include Lawrence North tenth, Penn ninth, Columbus North eighth, Ben Davis seventh, Lake Central sixth, Lawrence Central, Center Grove fourth, Avon third, Homestead grabbing second place and Carmel taking the top spot.

Competition this past weekend at Lucas Oil Stadium was intense and we’re not talking about the Colts game. The ISSMA State Finals was held on Saturday and included the top 40 bands in the state separated into 4 classes based on school size. The Greenwood Marching Woodmen compete in class B and finished 3rd. This was the 31st consecutive state finals performance for the Woodmen. Their show is entitled “Nocturne” and features all original music composed by Don Barrett. The Marching Woodmen have 177 members including wind, percussion and auxiliary. The will be competing this weekend in BOA Grand Nationals again at Lucas Oil Stadium. – by Rich Beaman
